June 28th - July 1st at Universal Preservation Hall
Orchard Project Presents features 4-time Orchard Project resident artists, Pig Iron Theatre Company, with one of its most acclaimed productions. This sweeping drama of American idealism and unlikely love affairs is set against the chaos of World War I. Gentlemen Volunteers follows two American ambulance drivers from the idyllic campus of Yale University to the battlefields of France. An epic romance in the style of classic films such as Casablanca, Gentlemen Volunteers features live music and an award-winning sound design.
This show is a promenade play - in which audience members mostly stand and walk about rather than sit, watching the action happening among them and following the performers around the performance space. There will be some places to sit and perch. Audience members with mobility issues should alert The Orchard Project in advance to best help with needs.

The Orchard Project
The Orchard Project is a non-profit artist residency program that brings theatre artists from all over the world together for the month of June to develop and accelerate their work. Last year we moved from Hunter to Saratoga Springs and we are trying to get the word out about the Orchard Project and about our Orchard Project Presents series. Last year we took over Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga and brought up Alan Cumming, Bridget Everett, Julian Fleisher, and Mo Rocca. This year, not only are we accelerating 26 theatre projects with over a hundred artists, but we've taken over Putnam Den as well and are transforming into a cabaret venue.
